A Phase 1 environmental site assessment essentially aims to locate signs of real or potential contamination on a property. Phase 1 refers to the general principles of CSA Z768-01 norm. Its consists of collecting information on-site and includes a documentary research, a location inspection as well one or a few interviews.
The norm’s definition
The Phase 1 environmental site assessment is a systematic process according to which the environmental site assessor strives to determine if a particular site is already polluted or exposed to pollution risks. The EES Phase 1 does not include sampling, analytic or measure processes, unless the evaluation expert and their client agree on improvements.
